Cabrera, attractive Neighbour
The Cabrera Archipielago which includes Conillera islands, Illa Plana, Illa Foradada, Na Pobre and the islets Pla, Foradat and others, was declared a National Land and Sea Park by the Spanish Parliament in April 1991 for its remarkable scenery and its ecological importance. On the island is a medieval castle-fortress, a hermitage and a monument to the French who were buried there. Cabrera is an island of many historical and poetical evocations.
Today, Cabrera and its islands are one of the principal places visited by enthusiasts of ecological and marine tourism. The visitor to the Island can enjoy its ornithological wealth, its marine depths ans its singular countryside. The Island of Cabrera may be reached by boats which leave every day from Colònia de Sant Jordi's harbour. Any visit to the island, by private
boat or with an organised excursion, must be authorised by the Nacional Park
