What is Es Trenc Like?
Es Trenc is 7 kilometres long – an intriguing stretch of beach with a lovely Caribbean, relaxing atmosphere. The 35m wide beach is warmed by sun as gentle waves come into the shore. The waters can look emerald green, turquoise, or deep blue, depending on the natural light and time of day.
The island of Mallorca has strict regulations on the Es Trenc beach, as no beach-side developments are allowed. This is to preserve the natural and unique beauty of the famous beach. There are no hotels or concrete buildings to block the stunning view of the beach.
There is even a nudist section for naturists to enjoy. You would have to walk along the seafront to get to the nudist areas. The Es Trenc is relaxed and mainly attracts 20- to 30-year-olds and families. However, you would also find older people relaxing on the flat dunes.
Location
The Es Trenc beach is located south of Mallorca, between the Colonia de Sant Jordi and Sa Rapita resorts. It takes 45-minute drive from Palma to get there, and if you travel from the west or centre of Mallorca, you should take the MA-6040 towards the Colonia de Sant Jordi via Campos.
You can also plan a hike on the trail that connects Colonia de Sant Jordi to the Es Trenc beach. On this journey you can pass other beautiful sights, which are perfect for photos.
Restaurants, Bars & Facilities
It is recommended to bring extra food and water, as there are no accommodations or shops nearby. The facilities are minimal, as there are only toilets, with no changing stations and showers.
You would see many vendors along the beach selling items such as cold drinks, handmade jewellery, and tapestries. Visitors can rent umbrellas and lounge chairs, and some are self-service. There are lots of spots to chill out at the beach, but get an umbrella because there is no shade!
Apart from the beach bar, there are a few restaurants near the beach. The popular Es Trenc restaurant (reservations needed) serves fantastic food, such as fish and paella. You can also visit the Flor de Sal Es Trenc café, which has tasty sweets and sandwiches.
Lifeguard & Water Sports
You can find the lifeguard stations in the busier parts of the Es Trenc beach, and there are rescue services quite close by the beach bars. There are few water sports on offer; however, the best beach activities are snorkelling and building sand castles. There are a few paddle boats available in the summer months.
Is Es Trenc Family-Friendly?
Yes. There is a paved area with a ramp for people with wheelchairs; however, there are no shaded seating areas. Wear swimsuits and splash around in the clean, shallow waters of the Es Trenc beach. The landscape is serene and perfect for bird lovers.
You can take your family to the Flor de Sal Es Trenc salt shop or the salt flats.
Where to Park at Es Trenc
There is a car park close to the beach, which is subject to charges. You have to get a spot early, as the spots are limited – this is paid parking, so you can walk to the beach if you want to save on parking costs.
Nearby Beaches, Hotels & Resorts
Unfortunately, you cannot camp on the fine sand beach. You can go to Colonia San Jordi or Sa Rapita for hotels and villa rentals for groups and families. The Finca Hotel Es Turo is 15 minutes from the beach in the Ses Salines National Park.
If you travel for about 30 minutes by car, you will come across other beaches, such as Cala S’almunia, Calo des Moro, and Cala Pi.
