What is Calo des Moro Like?

Calo des Moro is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. In fact, when you visit Calo des Moro, heading straight to the beach is seen as a rite of passage for many.

Nestled snuggly inside a bay which sheer cliffs, the beach is small and covered with fine-grained, almost white sand. Coupled with clear waters where you can see your feet beneath you, the water oozes turquoise and teal shades throughout the day, making it the perfect place for a cool down or a splash around with friends.

Location

Situated just 6 kilometres away from Santanyi, Calo des more sits in the southeast corner of Mallorca. However, the beach can be tough to get to, and many tourists have trouble finding this hidden gem. While it is possible to drive right up to the beach, there is rarely much room to park. Most people park their cars a few hundred meters away and use the dirt path to walk to the beach.

Restaurants, Bars & Facilities

Due to its relatively remote location, there are no restaurants or bars in close proximity to Calo des Moro beach. There’s nothing to stop you from bringing a picnic and enjoying an al fresco lunch on the beach in the summer months but do not light fires for a barbeque, as this is strictly prohibited.

Lifeguard & Watersports

Calo des Moro beach is not manned by lifeguards and, therefore, extra care should be taken when swimming or playing in the water, especially if you have children with you.

Is Calo des Moro Family-friendly?

Thanks to its bright sand, rocky cliffs, and the most beautiful turquoise shades, this small beach is perfect for kids. The best thing about it is the water is shallow, so even infants and younger children can enjoy a dip when they are accompanied by a responsible adult.

One downside, which may not prove a hit for those younger members of the family who may want to build sandcastles, is that the incredibly beautiful beach gets busy. Therefore, there won’t always be room to play in the sand.

Where to Park at Calo des Moro

There is a free parking area close to Calo des Moro beach, but you will have to walk a few hundred meters to get to the beach’s crystal clear, turquoise water. There is a steep staircase that leads down directly to the sea.

Other Nearby Beaches

Sitting between Calo des Moro and Santanyi is the small town of Cala Llombards, which also has a beautiful beach open to the public. As well as this, on the southeast corner is Cala s’Almunia which also boasts a popular beach and is within walking distance of Calo des Moro.

Nearby Hotels & Resorts

Calo des Moro is located close to a residential property, but from the incredibly beautiful beach, you won’t be able to see it. With its high cliffs and dirt path access point, Calo des Moro beach really gives the impression of being in the middle of nowhere.

The closest holiday resort is Cala Santanyi to the northeast, which has a host of popular hotels where you can spend a quiet, soothing holiday.
