What is Es Caragol Beach Like?

Es Caragol Beach is a 500m long sandy beach with fine white sand and beautiful blue water. The sea here is shallow and perfect for a mid-day wallow.

Getting to the beach is a little tricky with a 25-30 minute walk. However, this gives you a chance to see the local plant life, sand dunes, and gorgeous views of the bay.

Location

Es Caragol is situated on the southern tip of Mallorca. The nearest town to the beach is Ses Salines, about a 30-minute walk away.

The beach is untouched and not very popular because you need to park at the lighthouse in Ses Salines and make your way down a rocky path for about 25 minutes before reaching the beach.

However, once you make it, the trip is well worth it, with crystal clear blue waters and a beautiful sandy bay to relax and enjoy the quiet.

Restaurants, Bars & Facilities

Playa Es Caragol is the epitome of doing little and enjoying it. There aren’t any restaurants of facilities, so you’ll need to set up your area to relax.

We recommend bringing a towel and an umbrella to have some relief from the sun. You’ll also need to pack your snacks and drinks because there are no restaurants, bars, or shops nearby.

This is one of those times when making a list before you leave will save you a lot of time and effort. Make sure you pack everything and that it’s easy to carry.

Trust us, a 30-minute walk with seven bags is not what you want to be doing in the hot Mallorcan sun.

Lifeguard & Water sports

The swimming and snorkelling here are what make it such a special place.

The ocean is as crystal clear and blue as you’ll find anywhere, so a bit disappointing that there aren’t any water sports.

However, the water is calm, with incredible surrounding views of the coastline. Something most other beaches of Mallorca don’t have.

There isn’t a lifeguard available, and help is quite far away. This isn’t to scare you off. But instead, it’s a reality check to ensure you, your friends and your family are always cautious and safe.

The sand dunes on the beach are excellent if you don’t want to head into the water.

Is Es Caragol Family-friendly?

There are better options than Es Caragol for children. There is quite a walk before getting to the beach, and there aren’t any lifeguards on duty.

This amazing beach is more for adults who want to escape the loud and busy beaches of famous cities. It’s a place to relax on the sand and enjoy the beauty of the beach.

Where to Park at Es Caragol

There is a car park located at the lighthouse in Ses Salines. From there, you’ll need to walk down to Es Caragol beach. This is not an accessible beach for those in wheelchairs.

Other Nearby Beaches

Since Es Caragol is out of the way, there aren’t any beaches within walking distance. The beach is surrounded by wetlands, which are fascinating to see if you’ve been beach hopping during your vacation.

It’s something different and truly a sight to be seen.

Nearby Hotels & Resorts

No accommodation options exist at Es Caragol, and camping is not permitted. The closest options for accommodation will be in Ses Salines, which offers smaller but lovely hotels to fit any budget.
