What is Cala Esmeralda Beach Like?
It is a small sandy and rocky bay situated in Santanyi. It is an excellent place for sunbathing and swimming during the summer.
While small, the beach is relatively popular among visitors during the summer because it is nicely nestled in an untouched cove.
Location
Playa Cala Esmeralda is situated in the centre of Cala d’Or, east of Mallorca, within the Balearic Islands. It is located between two beaches, Cala Ferrera and Cala d’Or.
This beach is about 65km from Palma airport, so you’ll need to hire a car or hop on the reliable local bus.
Restaurants, Bars & Facilities
There are some stunning eateries about 800m from the sea. They offer everything from local seafood dishes, steaks, and everyday food like burgers.
The nightlife isn’t like some other areas in Mallorca, but some bars are just off the beach for a late-night drink.
It is one of the only beaches in Mallorca without sun loungers for rent. But there are bathrooms and showers available. However, this is usually only for neighbouring accommodation guests.
Plus, a small bar on the sand allows you to enjoy snacks and refreshments.
Lifeguard & Watersports
Since Cala Esmeralda is so small, there aren’t any watersports available. However, it is a popular spot for boats to anchor.
There also isn’t a lifeguard, so keep an eye on little ones.

The beach is family-friendly overall. It has soft white sand, and the bay is nice and calm. But there aren’t any additional activities like on other more prominent Mallorcan beaches.
